In its third full season, the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras (EPSYOs) provides the highest level of musical experience and education to talented young musicians in the Greater El Paso, Juarez, and Southwest New Mexico areas


EPSYOs is committed to creating and maintaining a professional and supportive environment in which young musicians will achieve the highest level of artistic advancement and personal growth performing two to four concerts each year of the finest classical music repertoire.

Andres Moran appointed new Music Director of EPSYOs

Andres Moran
The El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras has (EPSYOs) chosen Andres Moran to be its new Music Director starting in the fall of 2009 Moran will succeed EPSYOs founder and Music Director of three years Benjamin Loeb.   A native El Pasoan, Moran attended New Mexico State University studying French horn and Music Education, and taught middle and high school band in the El Paso Independent School District.  Moran continued his education at Southern Methodist University, and is currently finishing his Doctorate of Musical Arts in conducting from Indiana University. 

Over 50 applicants from across the United States applied for the position of EPSYOs Music Director, and only four were chosen for a live audition on May 29, 2009.
 
Moran will also be the Assistant Conductor of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, assisting EPSO Music Director Sarah Ioannides.

EPSYOs names Lesley Chen new General Manager

The EPSYOs has named Lesley Chen its new General Manager. Chen moved to El Paso in 2005 to work with outgoing Executive Director/Music Director Ben Loeb  in starting the EPSYOs, and was Administrative Director of the organization for 2 ½ years. Chen is a trained musician, holding violin performance degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and University of California Santa Barbara, and has been an active teacher and musician in the community teaching at the El Paso Conservatory, New Mexico State University, and performing with the El Paso Symphony, Las Cruces Symphony, and El Paso Opera.

Chen will be transitioning into the position throughout April and May, and will start full time June first. She can be contacted at Lesley@epsyos.org.
