Christopher Noel has performed all over the United States and Western Europe. He received his Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from St. Olaf College where he was nominated for musical distinction. Christopher studied violin with Charles Gray and Ken Freed, while studying conducting extensively with Steven Amundson, Anton Armstrong and Timothy Mahr. While at St. Olaf, Christopher served as concertmaster and student Assistant Conductor with the elite St. Olaf Orchestra from 2003 to 2005, and made several appearances as a guest conductor. He also founded a chamber orchestra, which performs annually during the winter, and was frequently asked to collaborate with the Theatre Department as a Music Director for operas and musicals.
In the spring of 2008, Christopher completed his Masters of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Illinois. As a Graduate Assistant for the School of Music, Christopher served as Operations Manager and Assistant Conductor for the University of Illinois Philharmonia Orchestra, as well as Assistant Conductor of the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Christopher also served as the Music Director and Conductor of the University of Illinois Illini Orchestra. In addition to studying with Donald Schleicher at the University of Illinois, Christopher has studied with several other accomplished conductors including Helmuth Rilling, Larry Rachleff, David Hoose, Donald Thulean, Christopher Zimmerman, John Farrer, Daniel Lewis, and Miguel Harth-Bedoya among others.
Currently, Christopher is working with the youth of El Paso, Texas, serving as a Staff Conductor of the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras, and teaching orchestra at MacArthur Intermediate and Cielo Vista Elementary. Christopher also teaches violin at the El Paso Conservatory of Music.
