
A native of El Paso, Donna Loomis graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. She is a student of Laurence Gibson and Philip Lewis. She is also winner of the 1992 University of Texas at El Paso Concerto and Aria competition and a former member of the Texas All-State Symphony Orchestra.
Donna taught orchestra in the El Paso Independent School District for seven years from the elementary through high school levels. In addition, Donna was an instructor for five years at Western New Mexico University where she led the Orchestral Studies program. While there, her responsibilities included teaching all applied string lessons, Elementary and Secondary Music Education, Music Appreciation, and directing the University Orchestra. Donna is also a founding member of the Sirens Piano Trio who performed in Silver City, NM. Donna has been a member of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra since 1996 and toured Turkey under the direction of Maestro Gürer Aykal in 2000. She also played with the El Paso Opera Company for seven years.
Currently, in addition to playing with the EPSO, Donna works for the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras, sells sterling silver jewelry as an independent representative for Silpada Designs, and is a stay at home mom for her daughter, Violet.
