The El Paso Youth String Ensemble (EPYSE) is a strings-only ensemble for intermediate players with some orchestral experience. Rehearsals are held Saturdays from 2:30 - 5:00PM. Tuition is $325.
Audition Requirements
Your audition will take about five minutes, and will have three major components:
- Two (2) scales of at least two octaves and three octaves if capable (It is important for students to be able to demonstrate the ability to play in both 1st and 3rd positions.)
- Prepared selection from a solo piece or etude (All Region excerpts are acceptable)
- Short, rhythmic sight-reading excerpt (music will be provided in your audition)
Your solo piece selection should reflect your current playing ability, including shifting into higher positions and playing in different keys.
